MEET THE BAND WORKSHOPS TEAM:
BAND WORKSHOPS IS RUN BY A TEAM OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE FOR MUSIC. THEY HAVE OVER 80 YEARS EXPERIENCE OF PLAYING, RECORDING, WRITING, PERFORMING AND TEACHING BETWEEN THEM AND THEY KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO GET YOUR PLAYING TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
ERIKA FOOTMAN - Manager, Course Content & Faculty Liaison.

Erika is a vastly experienced vocalist, performer and educator whose cv reads like a who's who of modern music. Erika has performed with Skunk Anansie on their album 'Black Traffic', supplied guest vocals on their 2011 European tour and backing vocals for live acoustic shows. She also supplied guest vocals on Bastille's Mix Tape. Between 2009-2012 Erika performed with pop sensation Mika, including worldwide tours and festivals, TV performances on Jools Holland, Letterman and the X-Factor and live performances on Radio One. Erika currently performs with Senser on their tour of UK and European festivals.
Her teaching experience includes working at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (London) and Academy of Contemporary Music (Guildford), specialising in live performance techniques, session styles and sight reading. When not teaching or performing, Erika can be found writing and performing her own original material. She has written with Amy Studt, So Solid Crew, Full Phatt and was on the production team with Rux and Rob from Rob&Nino.

ROSE KIMBERLEY - Manager, Course Content & Faculty Liaison.

Rose has been performing as a singer and songwriting since aged 16. She worked at ACM as the Education Coordinator for the Vocal School until 2009. Having subsequently taught at ACM and also worked with industry professionals including
Sam Brown and Ann Bailey, Rose was inspired to begin teaching and session singing full-time. Rose has a PTLLS teaching certificate and has also successfully undertaken vocal-specific teacher training. Rose has experience teaching a range of ages and abilities while working for Stagecoach, alongside her roster of private students. She has also taught at the
Central School of Ballet.
Rose has provided vocals for many artists, performing live lead and backing vocals as well as songwriting and studio recording support. Sessions include Peter Cox’s (Go West) album 'Riding the Blinds'. Rose also performs regularly with some of the UK's top professional function bands including '29 Fingers' and 'tailored'.

MIKE STURGIS - Director, Curriculum Design & Development.

Mike has toured or recorded with such major pop and rock names as David Bowie, Elton John, Scott Gorham, Adrian Smith, Glen Hughes, A-ha, Asia, Jack Bruce, Steve Winwood, Sam Brown, Tom Jones, Boyzone and Bono. Mike is currently drumming with international jazz-funk group Redtenbacher's Funkestra.
Mike is a music graduate of the University of Miami, holds a PGCE from the University of London and for 13 years was Head of Drums at the Academy of Contemporary Music. He has authored course curriculum and provided hundreds of students at all levels with a world-class education in a full range of musical subjects. Mike was Programme Leader for the Higher Diploma at ICMP in London and is head of education for DIME Online.
As a columnist with Rhythm magazine Mike has been reaching drummers around the world with his tutorial columns since 1999.

IAN EDWARDS - Director, Marketing & Business Development.

Ian has written, recorded and performed live in original bands and has also worked on projects with many different artists including Jimmy Page, Brian May, Bruce Foxton, Stiff Little Fingers, Pulp, Reef, Steve Vai, Hazel O'Connor, Chad Smith, The Tragically Hip, Wilko Johnson, Mike Peters, Zodiac Mindwarp & the Love Reaction, Chesney Hawkes, etc.
Ian co-authored the book 'Running a Band as a Business' with Bruce Dickinson (Little Angels, BIMM) and has also written extensively for Guitarist, Total Guitar, Music Tech and Bassist. Ian worked at the Academy of Contemporary Music for 14 years as part of the original senior management team and has been integral to ACM's global success. Alongside Band Workshops, Ian is currently Head of Operations at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London.
Ian graduated from King Alfred's College in Winchester with First Class Honours in Ethnomusicology & History.

- BAND WORKSHOPS exists to create contemporary music courses that are informative, inspirational, interactive and fun. These educational experiences are for young guitarists, drummers, keyboard players, bass players and singers who are passionate about music making and live performance.

A community where young musicians of all abilities can come together to develop their musical skills in an environment run by highly experienced industry professionals who specialise in music education and student development.
